[He sat up a little, looking up at Roman, blue eyes looking into those glinting greens. He smiled, thin and not with much humor, but it was something. October was a month of harvest, of the coming dark, winter. But beyond that, Spring would come. As much as this hurt now, he tried to hold onto such thoughts -- only an asshole thought they could change the order of nature. As much hurt as he felt, it might not ever pass, but it would lessen.
He'd stayed for Roman, even if it was an awkward thing. Letha wasn't here, no softening touch that kept them apart. It was part of what made her easier; that ability to temper that connection between them, making it seem less terrifying. The chill of autumn accomplished that as well, however, as did the harshness of grief. His presence always brightened his spirits, and today was no different. The nearness of Halloween had cookies and other sweets even more common than usual, and he planned on at least dragging Roman inside for cookies and coffee or some shit like that.
He liked having him around these days, even if he didn't admit it outloud. It was in the air between them. He reached a hand out, less a request for help and more a vague desire to pull him down.]
